kawamura-ganjavian are proud to announce that on October 16th 2009 the execution of the project for the bookstore La Fontaine has started at the EPFL campus in Lausanne, Switzerland. It consists of a series of thematic pods built inside one of the Rolex Learning Centre "bubbles" devised by Japanese architects SANAA. The execution is done in collaboration with NOR architectes from Lausanne and completion is expected for February 2010.

The jury of the GALP cycling and pedestrian bridge competition in Lisbon, lead by Amanda Levete, gave kawamura-ganjavian a first honorable mention for the entry "bridging parks". The announcing ceremony took place on 4th October 2009 during the Experimenta Design 09 festival. The awarded projects will be exhibited in the EXD09 hall in Lisbon between 4th-9th October 2009.

kawamura-ganjavian participated on May 14th 2009 at the first Pecha Kucha Night in Bilbao which took place at the Guggenheim Museum. The video of our presentation has been recently released. Click below to watch it.

kawamura-ganjavian participated on 7th March 2009 in the international art and design forum City and Art in Istanbul. The organisers, Artcitizens, have recently published the full transcript of our lecture then.

kawamura-ganjavian have participated in the exhibition Beyond Media 2009 in the section Wide Eyed which featured films responding to the architectural visions of 21 emerging architectural practices. The show was curated by Melissa Woolford from Nous Gallery and took place at Stazione Leopolda in Florence, Italy, between 9th-17th July 2009 within the context of the 9th Visions International Festival of Architecture.

kawamura-ganjavian are proud to announce the completion of the loft refurbishment project TANK in Madrid. It consists of a single furniture-architecture element that articulates a two-level working environment and a staircase, while at the same time giving privacy to the living side of the apartment.

kawamura-ganjavian, together with Juan Creus, are participating in an urbansim workshop organised by the University of A Coruña, in Northern Spain, between the 6th and 9th July 2009, which has been organised by Roi Salgueiro and Fran Rosell.

kawamura-ganjavian, coordinators of the European Design Labs09 master course, will be participating with the group of students in a research trip to Basel and Frankfurt between 11th-19th June 2009, where they will be exploring Art Basel, Design Miami and Material Vision.

kawamura-ganjavian have been selected as finalists of the Saloni Architecture and Interiors prize for their refurbishment project Studio Banana. The winner will be announced next Friday 4th June 2009 at an awards ceremony in the Cataluña Congress Palace in Barcelona.
